MOBILE STORE
The Bckwds Mobile Store started as a simple box trailer and was completely transformed from the inside out. The interior was designed and built to feel more like a small, thoughtfully designed retail space than a trailer, with custom cabinetry, woodwork, fixtures, flooring, and displays throughout. Every detail was built in-house with the same attention to craftsmanship and design that goes into everything we create at Bckwds. Built to travel, the store brings our work on the road and gives us the opportunity to set up wherever there’s a good reason to stop.
HOW IT STARTED
We wanted a retail space that could handle Maine’s unpredictable weather while giving us the freedom to connect with more people and places across the state. Instead of being tied to a brick-and-mortar location, the trailer lets us take Bckwds on the road and experience Maine alongside the people who live, work, and visit here. And honestly, building out a fully functional retail space inside a box trailer sounded like a pretty fun challenge.
